Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Tuesday recommended 360-km Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway of PKR 27.6529 billion and Dir Motorway of PKR 38.991billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for approval, according to media reports. It was reported that both projects would reduce traffic congestion and provide a quick route to travel within the region.

CDWP Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan presided over the CDWP meeting, which approved two development projects worth PKR 3.37 billion and proposed three projects for PKR 402.3 billion to ECNEC.
During the meeting, projects from various sectors such as physical planning and housing, governance, education, and transport and communication were discussed. A new governance project worth PKR 8.6785 billion, titled ‘Establishment of Public Financial Management Unit (PFMU) and Program Support Unit (PSU) in Finance Department and Planning and Development (P&D) Board under Punjab Resources Improvement and Digital Effectiveness (PRIDE) Program,’ was introduced.

In addition, CDWP approved a PKR 2.124 billion project related to Physical Planning & Housing named the ‘1.2 MGD R.O.D Plant. Another project presented for the education sector was the PKR 1.253 billion ‘Establishment of Directorate General of Religious Education.’ In furthermore, the authority approved a PKR 810.396 million ‘Pandemic Response Effectiveness Project for COVID-19.
