Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by the Planning Commission Mohammad Deputy Chairman Jehanzeb Khan, has sanctioned one development project costing PKR 2 billion, as claimed by a news source on February 1.

According to the details, the department, besides this, put forth recommendations for three projects valued at PKR 136.660 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further deliberation.
Participating in the meeting were Secretary Planning Awais Manzur Sumra, senior officials from the Planning Commission, Federal Ministries/Divisions, and Chairman/ACS (Dev) from Provincial Governments.
Projects in Energy, Physical Planning & Housing, and Transport & Communications sectors were under consideration.
- An Energy sector project, “Expansion of 48MW Jagran Hydropower Station (Phase-II) in District Neelum, AJ&K (Revised),” costing Rs. 14,744 million, recommended to ECNEC for further assessment. Oversight by Power Development Organization of AJK. Funded primarily by AFD and a portion from PSDP.
- Approval granted for Physical Planning & Housing sector project “Construction of Litigants Facilitation Centre for Litigants of District Courts in Sector G-10/1 Islamabad,” priced at PKR 1,989.990 million. Aim to provide essential facilities for litigants and lawyers.
- The Ministry of Communications proposed the Transport & Communication sector project “2nd Carriageway Torkham Jalalabad Road Project, Afghanistan,” valued at PKR 16,465.883 million, recommended to ECNEC for further review.
- National Highway Authority as Executing Agency. Funded through PSDP to aid Afghanistan’s road network reconstruction.
- “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Road Development Project” in the Transport & Communication sector, worth PKR 105,450 million, suggested for ECNEC’s consideration. Significant foreign funding from ADB and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government.
