Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Tuesday gave its approval to seven projects costing PKR 10 billion collectively, a news source reported. Similarly, it referred six other projects worth PKR 132.5 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

In a meeting held previously, the CDWP had approved two projects and referred four to the ECNEC. The projects forwarded to the ECNEC included the Red Line BRT, Yellow Line BRT, and Peshawar-Torkham Motorway for development of transport and communications in the country. Now the authority has recommended the Yellow Line BRT project costing PKR 56 billion for final approval to the ECNEC.
The CDWP also recommended the following projects for ECNEC’s approval:
- Lahore Water & Wastewater Management project costing PKR 20 billion
- Peshawar-Torkham Motorway project costing PKR 36.7 billion as part of the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor
- Higher Education Development in Pakistan valued at PKR 11.6 billion
Meanwhile, the seven approved projects included:
- A Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Programme of the Punjab government; which includes the construction of several hydel power stations
- A Punjab Sustainable Development Goals project costing PKR 400 million

The total of seven approved projects by CDWP include three backed by the World Bank, one by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and one supported by a Chinese grant.
The funding for all 13 projects would only resume once they gain approval from the CDWP and the ECNEC.
