Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Planning Commission has approved nine projects worth PKR 40 billion, according to a news report. These projects fall under the energy, science, and technology sectors. It also recommended a further two mega-projects worth PKR 55.5 billion for approval to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

The projects approved for the energy sector are as follows:
- A regional grid in Gilgit-Baltistan (Phase-I) worth PKR 4.959 billion
- 220-kV Nawabshah substation project worth PKR 6.291 billion
- 220-kV Larkana new substations worth PKR 6.449 billion
- Procurement of 220-kV mobile grid station with emergency recovery system and 500 kV reactors for emergency services project worth PKR 6.978 billion
- 220 kV Swabi substation project worth PKR 6.399 billion
The CDWP also approved two projects in the science and technology sector. The first was the Pakistan Research Reactor-3 Project worth PKR 4.671 billion and the second one was the establishment of a campus of the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in Islamabad, worth PKR 331.12 million.

It also approved three projects related to the health sector, including a safe blood transfusions service worth PKR 863.367 million, upgrading midwifery and nursery worth PKR 27.908 billion, and a Medical Development Centre at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) worth PKR 331.12 million.
The projects recommended for ECNEC approval included one titled “National Programme for Enhancing Command area in Barani areas of Pakistan”, pertaining to water resource development, worth PKR 27.526 billion.
