Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Thursday approved four projects worth PKR 16.11 billion while forwarding another two worth PKR 44.172 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for its technical sanction — a news source reported.

The CDWP meeting was chaired by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan. The projects approved in the meeting included:
- Heritage & Urban Regeneration for Lahore Tourism Development in Lahore Fort and its Buffer zone worth PKR 365 million. The project will restore and preserve Lahore Fort and reconnect it with the Walled City.
- Rehabilitation of Pasni Fish Harbor Project worth PKR 1.454 billion.
- Infrastructure upgradation of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd worth PKR 7.78 billion
- Construction of Road from Zeyara to Dabori in District Orakzai worth PKR 3.217 billion
The projects forwarded to the ECNEC included a plan to establish a 48 MW Jagran Hydropower Station Phase-II in District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The project worth PKR 11.372 billion is expected to be granted a final approval by the executive committee. The proposal for the project envisages developing a run-off river type hydropower station.

The other project forwarded to the ECNEC is worth PKR 32.8 billion and is titled the Locust Emergency and Food Security Project. It aims to enhance food security and growth of the agricultural sector by controlling the ongoing locust outbreak.
