Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Wednesday provided its approval to the development of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project, in addition to sanctioning the construction of several other infrastructure initiatives, a news source reported.

Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan chaired a meeting to this effect during which the attendees reviewed five projects worth PKR 209.05 billion. They approved three projects worth PKR 12.55 billion worth and dispatched two projects worth PKR 196.6 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further consideration.

Apart from Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, the CDWP also approved the Dualization of Quetta Western Bypass project and the Uplift Water Supply project in Mianwali. The Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway project is worth PKR 182,496 million and the project will be developed on a built-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.

The dualisation of Quetta Western Bypass is worth PKR 7103.78 million and includes the dualisation of the 22.5 kilometre long Quetta Western Bypass. The Program to Uplift Water Supply $ Sanitation Infrastructure will be developed on the bank of Indus River in Tehsil Isa Khel, District Mianwali.
