Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has given the green light to 24 development projects worth PKR 19.6 billion. Around 12 of the projects have been referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further proceedings, according to news reports. The decision was taken during a meeting held on Thursday, which was chaired by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Sartaj Aziz.
Over 33 development projects were discussed during the meeting, and 24 were finalized. The sectors under discussion included transport and communication, information technology, environment, water resources, science and technology, nutrition, agriculture and food, physical planning and housing, health, manpower, education and governance.
The most notable of these projects include:
- Dargai Hydroelectric Power Station
- Chao Tangi Dam in South Waziristan
- Establishment of a NUST campus in Quetta
- Construction of hostel and sports facilities in Karakoram International University
- Establishment of a Space Application Research Centre in Gilgit Baltistan
- Installation of weather surveillance radar in Multan
- Establishment of Islamabad Model College for Boys in Pakistan Town
