Islamabad: The Ministry of Interior Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) on Monday approved the PC-I prepared by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the management, operations and maintenance of the Metro Bus Service, according to a news source published today (September 8).

The Metro Bus Service will cover a route stretching from the Islamabad International Airport (IIA) and the Peshawar Mor. Under the PKR 1.9 billion-worth PC-I, the CDA will procure 30 buses and will supervise their operations. As per sources, the matter of the ‘funding arrangements’ for the services is decidedly referred to the federal cabinet.

Moreover, the meeting was informed that the 25.6 kilometre-long metro track – being currently developed by the National Highways Authority (NHA) – is near completion. The project is worth PKR 16 billion and will soon be transferred to the CDA. Meanwhile, the development authority is exploring options to ensure swift initiation of the bus service operations.
