Islamabad – CDA fails to pace up the construction of Kashmir Highway project and the finance wing of CDA is deemed to place hindrances in its expansion.
CDA commenced the expansion of Kashmir highway to connect it to the International Airport. The project was supposed to be completed by February 2013, as per the agreement.
The contract of Section 1 was given to a contractor for Rs. 65 million. About 25% of work has been completed yet and only Rs. 3 million have been issued to the contactor after a delay of several months.
45% of work has been completed in the section 2, contract of which was given for Rs. 1.75 billion. However, remaining amount of Rs. 27 million is yet to be paid to the contractor.
Finance Wing has been delaying the payments and a contractor has given notice to the CDA for the closure of work until the dues are paid.
