Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in clear violation of policy, continues to restore allotment of valued commercial plots canceled decades ago, according to documents obtained by a news source.
The news source states that plots worth millions of rupees located within key commercial areas of the federal capital have been restored by the civic authority, even though allotment was canceled previously, for some even two decades ago, primarily because the premium amount was not paid.
The Restoration Policy framed in 2014 categorically maintains that the CDA can only heed restoration requests made within a year of the date of cancelation. Yet, it is now entertaining requests for plots that were cancelled as far back as 1994, per the news source.
Although new prices have been calculated for the plots, these prices assigned by the authority seem to be substantially different from the open market rates. This has raised concern regarding corrupt practices.
