Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has revised building regulations for multi-storeyed constructions in Islamabad, as reported on May 31.

According to the details, the CDA Board has approved an increase in the floor area ratio (FAR) for large commercial plots. Specifically, the FAR has been elevated from 1:8 to 1:10 for plots ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 yards, and for plots larger than 5000 yards, an FAR of 1:12 has been approved. Moreover, the approval process for building plans now mandates a 25 percent payment of the total amount. Plot possession will only be granted upon payment of 50 percent of the total amount.

Additionally, the CDA has decided to augment discounts for lump sum payments, with a 15 percent discount for general payments and an escalated discount for overseas Pakistanis paying in dollars. The concession for payments made in dollars has been increased from 15 percent to 20 percent.
The increased FAR will be applicable to both new and existing buildings, encompassing those within housing societies.
