Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified efforts to enhance the Federal Capital’s infrastructure and recreational facilities, according to a news source on March 1.

In a Zoom meeting on Saturday, attended by senior CDA officials, NESPAK consultants, and architects, Chairman Randhawa reviewed multiple development and beautification projects. Key discussions included the repair and maintenance of the Islamabad Police Academy, with officials instructed to finalize timelines and submit daily progress reports. NESPAK consultants were tasked with providing technical assistance for the project.
The beautification of Pakistan Secretariat buildings was also a focal point, with Chairman Randhawa emphasising cost-effective yet visually appealing designs for facades. He called for landscaping and horticultural improvements in surrounding areas and proposed using drones to identify dedicated parking spaces. Additionally, he directed the DMA Directorate to assess its assets and determine their market value.
In a significant move, Chairman Randhawa ordered the immediate waiver of funeral bus charges and the introduction of an electric hearse bus for graveyard services. To improve the city’s commercial outlook, he proposed uniform designs for advertisements and signboards across commercial centres, stressing the need for top architects to create visually appealing signage. The meeting also reviewed ongoing road repairs, with patchwork and kerbstone repairs already underway.
In a separate meeting at the CDA Headquarters on Friday, Chairman Randhawa unveiled an ambitious revamp plan for F-9 Park and Gandhara Citizen Club. The iconic F-9 Park, one of South Asia’s largest public parks, will undergo a major transformation, including upgrades to its cricket ground, jogging tracks, and landscaping. A theme park, amphitheatre, central square, and fountains will also be operationalized, with plans to introduce a public library and cultural activities like storytelling and poetry recitation.

Chairman Randhawa emphasised public-private collaboration, urging corporate sector involvement under social responsibility initiatives to support these efforts. He also directed the swift renovation of Gandhara Citizen Club, ensuring its efficient utilisation and reinvestment of revenue into maintenance and development.
