Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been directed to recover millions of rupees on account of premium against various plots auctioned by the civic body, a news source reported. So far, the leases have failed to deposit their instalments.
From 2007 to 2016, CDA’s Estate Management Wing had auctioned 35 commercial plots and agricultural farms on lease basis in Blue Area, sectors G-11, G-9, G-5, F-7, F-11, F-10, E-12, I-8, I-12, I-16, D-12, Fruit and Vegetable Market in Sector I-11/4, Orchard Schemes, and Park Enclave.

It was revealed after the latest audit that at least PKR 5,831.043 million remained outstanding on account of premium against the leases who had failed to deposit their instalments.
As per the rules and regulations regarding allotment letters, CDA has the mandate to lease out its land for a period of 33 years, which may be extended for two subsequent terms of 33 years each. In case of default/non-conforming use, the allottee will be withdrawn and structure, if any on the plot, will be confiscated and no compensation will be paid.
