Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to take action against the illegal housing societies in Zone III, according to a news source. The civic body is doing so on the instructions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the CDA’s Zoning Regulations 1992, Zone III has been marked as a green zone, and construction of housing societies is illegal here. The areas where CDA is launching its drive against illegal housing societies include Shah Allah Ditta, Lakhwal, Saidpur, Bhara Kahu, Kot Hathial, Chawintra and Sangjani.
The apex court, while taking suo motu notice of the expansion of illegal housing societies in the restricted zones of Islamabad, has ordered the CDA to take measures to protect the city from the pollution caused by replacing the green areas with unplanned and unapproved housing societies.
The CDA’s Planning Wing will implement the court’s order.
