Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has prepared a proposal on setting up a drive-in cinema in the capital city for citizens looking for safe outdoor activity during the ongoing pandemic wave, a news source reported. The facility is expected to be opened next month.
The authority is considering a couple of options for the project’s location. As per the CDA’s plan, the cinema will either be setup in Shakarparian Parade Ground or F-9 Park, where a large screen will be installed. People will be able to watch films while sitting in their cars. The car’s radio will act as the speaker relaying movies’ audio.

Initially, films will be shown on the weekends and in case of receiving a positive feedback, the facility will be open on alternate days throughout the week.
CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed told media that strict SOPs will be followed at the drive-in cinema since the entire purpose of setting up the facility was to provide safe entertainment options to people limited to their houses because of the coronavirus pandemic.
