Islamabad: The federal government has provided its sanction for the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to run the Islamabad Metro Bus Service (Peshawar Mor–Islamabad International Airport), according to news sources.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan said that the authority has planned to purchase 30 buses, to be operated through a private contractor – as per the directives of the government. He also said that the service will be launched on a priority basis and that the authority is asked to complete the PC-I for buses’ procurement at earliest.
The special assistant said that the National Highway Authority (NHA) is finalising the track for the said metro bus services.

CDA Spokesperson Mazhar Hussain said that the authority has already prepared an operationalisation model that includes fleet acquisition, surveillance, construction of allied infrastructure and, the command and control centre.
Moreover, Mazhar revealed that the operation and maintenance of the Islamabad Metro Bus Service will be outsourced through four contracts.
