Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided, as per the details shared in its summary report, to revise all penalties and scrutiny fees for the approval of plans and issuance of completion certificates, reported a news source. The summary, which is going to be presented before the CDA Board soon, suggests a 100% increase in these fees and penalties.
According to the proposals, the rent for using a basement currently stands at PKR 600 per square yard, and will be almost doubled to create more revenue for the authority. Similarly, scrutiny fee for religious buildings meant for prayers etc. would be increased from PKR 1 to PKR 2 per square foot, scrutiny fee for residential buildings will be increased from PKR 3 to PKR 6 per square foot for proposed cover area, scrutiny fee for amenity offices/buildings will be increased from PKR 5 to PKR 10, and scrutiny fee for commercial buildings including flats/apartments and offices etc. in commercial areas is to be increased from PKR 10 to PKR 20 per square foot. All of these fees are being revised after 13 years.
As for penalties, for illegal connections to sewerage lines into open drains, the penalty has been increased from PKR 50,000 to PKR 75,000 for each inspection for houses and buildings of less than 1,000 square feet. The fine for commercial and other types of buildings has been increased from PKR 100,000 to PKR 150,000 for each inspection.
Similarly, penalties for illegal constructions, alterations in existing houses without prior consultation, and commercialisation charges for non-commercial areas have also been decided.
