Islamabad: In the wake of the October 26 earthquake that jolted many areas of the country, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to conduct an extensive review of existing building codes.
CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal told reporters that the authority will revisit building bylaws and also survey all high-rise buildings that pose risks.
Afzal said that CDA officials have already inspected buildings in the Blue Area and Sectors F-10, F-11 and G-11. They also met with the management of the buildings to note their complaints. Some buildings examined had evident cracks, he stated.
The CDA will revise building codes in light of recommendations made by engineers and structure assessment consultants.
