Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority, due to a lack of funds, plans to ask the government to fund the expansion of Islamabad Expressway, according to a news report. The second phase of this expansion will cost PKR 10.7 billion, which had previously been earmarked in the funding under the Public Sector Development Programme (PDSP).
With the suspension of PDSP, the project’s fate is uncertain. According to the PC-I for this expansion phase, the four lanes from Koral to Naval Anchorage will be extended to eight lanes by the addition of two rigid lanes and the rehabilitation of flexible ones. Three bridges will also be built at Korang, Bhinder, and the railway stop, along with service lanes.
