Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced its intent to convert the Saidpur village into a ‘multicultural and historic’ tourist resort – a move that would ‘allow visitors to experience the stark contrast between the city’s urban and rural culture’, according to a news source published on September 28.

As per the authority’s officials, the basic objective of the project was to execute the necessary maintenance of the village. It was informed that several suggestions – in consultation with the stakeholders – regarding the project were under consideration.

Additionally, the project was initiated by the CDA to convert the Saidpur Village into a tourist destination to highlight its ancient structures and varied colours of past civilisations. Previously, in 2006, the village status was even revamped as an ‘arts and crafts village’ by the authority – to preserve its centuries-old heritage and promote rural tourism amidst the hustle and bustle of the capital.
