Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would not be pursuing its earlier decision pertaining to the regularisation of all properties – including Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence – in the federal capital, a news source reported. The civic body will carry out the regularisation process after completing Islamabad’s revised master plan.
The Bani Gala residence is located in Zone-IV of the capital. CDA has the mandate to regularise the properties there under its zoning regulations of 2005 and 2010. However, regularisation cannot be carried out in Zone-III until the city’s master plan is revised, as all establishments – except the old villages – are illegal in this zone.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had earlier directed the civic body not to regularise houses till the revision of the master plan. The prime minister is also one of the 200 people who had applied to for the regularisation process.
CDA had also forwarded a summary to the interior ministry regarding the formation of a 15-member commission to develop the master plan of the capital city.
