As per details, these signals will utilise optical sensors to detect the volume of traffic on the road at any given time. They will then switch between the red, yellow, and green lights to adjust for traffic volume. This will help ease traffic flow along the busy avenue.
In the first phase, CDA will install these new signals along the Kashmir Highway from Sector G-7 to G-11. This will be evaluated as a trial run, and if proven successful, smart signals will be installed along all the major roads and intersections of Islamabad. The civic agency has already issued tenders for this purpose.
