Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) decided during a meeting at the authority’s headquarters on November 23 to use more than 2,000 Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to illuminate major avenues of the federal capital.
Initially, 2,000 conventional lights will be replaced with LEDs on Main Murree Road from Faizabad to Serena Hotel Chowk, Constitutional Avenue, F-6, F-7, F-8’s portion of Nazim-ud-din Road, and from Zero Point to Faisal Avenue. In subsequent phases, LED lights will also be installed in other areas of the city. The test installation on Margalla Road has been successful.
CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal presided over the meeting and told officials that estimates should have been prepared by now and all formalities completed. He also said that LEDs should be placed in the most populous areas.
Many facilities are being revamped and upgraded in Islamabad right now. The addition of LEDs is expected to be more cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing, and durable in comparison with conventional lights.
