This Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) will be installed along the Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Rawat. This will facilitate the flow of traffic on the signal-free corridor by controlling different intersections and will help alleviate the transportation issues in the city. This project involves the installation of CCTV surveillance systems along the length of the expressway.
These systems will have cameras with a coverage area of 500 metres each after every three kilometres. Both static and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras will be installed. Electronic viable message signs will also be installed in order to promote road safety.

The CDA will also establish a dedicated Traffic Control Centre (TCC) to connect to the field devices using fibre optics installed along the expressway. This TCC will consist of LED wall screens, video wall controllers, video storage systems, and a core network switch.
