Islamabad: The Water Management Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) would spend PKR 4 million to repair water tankers to increase water supply to Islamabad residents, news sources reported on April 20. To this effect, the authority is expected to float a tender soon.

The amount of PKR 4 million will be spent on improving essential spare parts of tankers, including tyres, tubes and flippers. The deputy director general (DG) water management, Sardar Khan Zimri, said that the authority would publish a tender in leading newspapers to invite competent firms to participate in the bidding process. The repair work of the machinery will start in the Machinery Pool Organisation (MPO), which will enhance the water supply capacity.

DG Khan further stated that the authority has around 34 water delivery tankers that provide water to households.The administration has also enhanced water delivery to homes by 2 million gallons per day to ameliorate the water situation and solve people’s water-related issues during Ramzan. The CDA water wing has announced the installation of 80 filtration facilities to provide potable water to different sectors of the capital. Work is being done on 20 more that will be operational within two months. The CDA’s water management wing has been active for the past one year, and a helpline has been established to resolve people’s water-related problems. In this regard, the wing has also established a one-window operating room.
