Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday (June 22) announced the formulation of a 30-year environmental protection plan for the capital city, news sources reported. The authority said that the project aims to make the capital city more sustainable and people-friendly.

Reportedly, the decision was made during an Islamabad Environment Board meeting chaired by Chairman CDA Amir Ali Ahmad. The meeting decided that the authority will develop initiatives to help the city’s greenery while simultaneously focusing on pollution reduction. The objective is to plant trees in Islamabad during the next 30 years. The plan also includes a solid waste management system and a green waste management strategy, as well as 30 years of continuous planting.

It is worth noting that the CDA has already begun to create a number of parks in each sector. It also recently announced a PKR 100 million grant for the development of jogging tracks in various areas of the city in order to offer health-encouraging opportunities to citizens.
