Islamabad: The capital city administration shared that the overhauling and widening of I.J. Principal Road will be completed by April next year, according to media reports published in the national dailies on May 10.

In a meeting, the National Logistic Cell (NLC) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) briefed CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed on the progress of the renovation of I.J. Principal Road. He was informed that 41% of work on the road has been completed. The chairman directed the civic agency to clear routes along I.J. Principal Road in order to divert traffic there. Also, a control room has been established to help motorists in case of emergency.
Moreover, the CDA Chairman Ahmed has directed the contractor to speed up the work, especially the 4-kilometre area from Pirwadahi Adda to Pirwadahi Mor. He has asked the engineering wing to complete this area of the road by August.

It is pertinent to note that under the PKR 4.9 billion project, seven culverts, 2 flyovers, and 2 bridges will be constructed besides overhauling the road. The said project will also include one flyover on 9th Avenue and I.J. Principal Road and two bridges will be developed at Pirwadahi and Kattarian.
