Islamabad: A spokesperson for the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday revealed that the authority’s scrutiny team had unearthed evidence of bylaws violations in two housing schemes located in Zone-V, according to a news source.
The details pertaining to these housing societies are being collected by a four-member committee that has been assigned with scrutinizing all the housing societies and projects located in Islamabad. Under the survey, the committee is analyzing the proper use of plots and areas reserved for amenities and facilities in line with the approved layout plans of different societies and projects.

Initially, the committee members scrutinized housing societies based in Zone-V of Islamabad, where they highlighted that the construction in these societies was incongruous with CDA’s approved layout plan. The survey also exposed that commercial and residential plots had replaced the plots reserved for parks and playgrounds, graveyards, health facilities and Sewerage Treatment Plants — with all this activity found to be in violation of the approved layout plans for the city.
CDA by-laws dictate that each society must allocate 2% of its area for a graveyard. However, the accused housing societies have been found to have either no graveyards altogether; graveyards that were too small; or graveyards developed on controversial or unauthorized sites.

Reportedly, the four-member CDA committee is set to visit numerous additional housing societies across the city in order to evaluate whether the construction methods in these schemes are in line with the layout plans formulated by the development authority.
