According to the authority, construction of underpasses on the highway is mandatory under the Islamabad master plan. The project had remained in a stayed condition after the Development Working Party (DWP) approved it in 2014.
CDA spokesperson Syed Safdar Ali said that the revenue generated through the recent auction of residential and commercial plots allowed the authority to develop the underpass project.
The civic agency, which hopes to start the construction work before June, is expected to issue tenders after completing all legal formalities within a few weeks. CDA also plans to hire a consultant for the project.
