Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to suspend its sanitary staff involved in burning garbage in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), according to a news source. This measure is part of the civic agency’s zero-tolerance policy towards factors harming the environment.
Previously, the CDA received numerous complaints about garbage burning in residential areas and public spaces. According to the officials concerned, several sanitary workers had allegedly been involved in burning dry leaves, garbage, and plastic bags.

CDA Director Sanitation Sardar Khan Zimri said that the authority has decided to take stern action against its staff involved in burning garbage. The disciplinary measures would involve immediate suspension.

Moreover, any citizen found burning garbage would be fined PKR 1,000-2,000. He said that public complaints with regard to sanitation issues (such as overflowing drains and garbage burning) can be submitted with pictures to the following WhatsApp numbers: 0335-5001213 (in case of garbage burning), 0335-5009899 (in case of overflowing drains and sewers).
