Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board has sought proposals and ideas from the Engineering and Traffic Wing to make Srinagar Highway a permanent signal-free corridor, news sources reported on October 13.

It was decided at a meeting presided over by CDA Chairman Captain (retired) Muhammad Usman Younis that the engineering and traffic planning wing will collect and present traffic data and causality numbers, as well as design futuristic elevated u-turns with the city’s growing population in mind. Furthermore, the concerned department is required to provide its findings at the next board meeting within five days for further deliberation and approval. During the meeting, CDA Chairman Young stated that the city needs a seamless and climate-resilient traffic system. He said that providing improved amenities to the inhabitants of Islamabad should be the CDA’s top priority, and no stone should be left unturned to accomplish this aim.

It is important to note that CDA has launched a number of road infrastructure projects in the city to accommodate rising traffic congestion. Some of the projects that have been launched are Bhara Kahu flyover, Rawal Dam Chowk project, Srinagar Highway project and P&D Road project.
