The authority made the decision following the announcement of an energy conservation and solarisation policy for the federal capital by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.
At a meeting chaired by Capital Development Authority Chairman Captain (r) Muhammad Usman Younis, a plan was finalised to convert the buildings housing the CDA offices of the civic body to solar energy. It was also decided that all streetlights on roads, constructed based on a government-to-government (G2G) formula, would be converted to solar energy as a part of a pilot project. Moreover, the meeting also decided to operationalise the solar projects in Sector F-9 and apply the same formula to other parks and recreational facilities.
