The CDA Building Control Directorate has warned societies that delays will result in fines and penalties. Building Control Director (North) Nasir Jameel Butt stated in a media briefing that the authority will soon launch an operation against such buildings that have not obtained official approvals and completion certificates (permission to occupy) from the CDA within three months of the initial construction period expiry. He further stated that the CDA intends to reclaim the fine and approval costs from such societies that have not submitted their records to the CDA.

It is important to note that the CDA has adopted a new approval procedure and has established two independent directorates to control construction operations in the city. The new directorates would oversee commercial and residential building bylaws and award completion certifications for buildings and houses. According to the rules, the authority has the jurisdiction to fine residential structures up to PKR 5,000 per month and commercial buildings up to PKR 10,000 per month for delayed approval.
