Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) recently revealed that it had completed 982 anti-encroachment drives in the city to retrieve state land from illegal occupation and encroachments, a news source reported.

According to details, CDA completed the said number of drives within the last 11 months. The authority’s Enforcement Directorate launched all these operations in different areas of Islamabad in line with their assigned duties.
In this regard, the CDA administration also prepared a performance report of these 11 months. The report indicates that the 982 anti- encroachment drives helped demolish 5,705 illegal structures constructed on state land and confiscate 8, 155 articles. During these drives, CDA imposed a total fine amounting to PKR 784, 100 on the encroachers.

The report reveals that the CDA Enforcement Directorate retrieved 1,219 kanals of state land from the local land mafia during the last three months alone. During this time, the department also sealed 40 premises across the capital city, which included commercial plazas, shops, constructions without required permissions, and showrooms.
