Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed recently announced the civic agency’s decision to establish multi-storey parking plazas in major markets of Islamabad; stating that the authority had commenced with the land identification process.

He expressed his views on the matter during a visit to Blue Area and F-10 Markaz to inspect the state of infrastructure and missing facilities. Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and other officials concerned were also present at the occasion.
Speaking with the traders of Blue Area and F-10 Markaz, Ahmed said that the CDA intended to upgrade the infrastructure of major commercial centres; adding that the development authority had commenced with the rehabilitation and restoration of roads, footpaths, streetlights, sewerage and sanitation system.
Commenting on the proposed development of parking facilities, he said that the CDA had initiated the process of identifying plots in markets. He highlighted the civic agency’s collaborative efforts with the ICCI; saying that these endeavors were aimed at addressing the concerns of the business community in the capital city.

Addressing the traders, ICCI President Ilyas Khan said that lack of adequate parking spaces was a major concern for the local shopkeepers. He asked the CDA management to organise the auction of plots meant for parking plazas on a priority basis; saying that the auction event would generate revenue for the civic agency in addition to solving the parking woes of major markets in Islamabad.
