Islamabad: Through a letter dated February 4, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) requested the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) to help the authority strengthen its enforcement wing in order to properly tackle the issue of increasing encroachments in the federal capital.
According to a news source, the letter was addressed to the minister of state for CADD, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, as a response. Earlier, Chaudhry had directed the enforcement wing to develop a proper plan to undertake the anti-encroachment drive rather than going about it haphazardly.
The letter emphasised how the CDA is facing immense pressure from land grabbers, the bhatta mafia, and illegal occupantsduring field operations on a daily basis. It called for the existing system to be replaced with a more extensive and competent one, and for action to be taken against illegal housing societies, showrooms, katchi abadis, hotels, malls, greenbelts and other building violations.
