Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sought help from the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) for the early delivery of 30 buses from China for Islamabad’s Metro Bus project that will be operated from Peshawar Morr to Islamabad Airport, according to news published on Monday (April 4).

As per the details, the authority will open financial bids today (April 4) for the installation of equipment at the platform at the airport and at 7 bus stations. It was mentioned that the buses were expected to reach Islamabad by March 15, however, their shipment has been delayed.
The CDA official (whose name was not disclosed) stated that the shipment of buses will take a couple of weeks to reach once departed from China. After clearance from customs, bringing buses to Islamabad from the port city will take two weeks. The official doubts that the metro bus project will start operations in April as previously stated.

Moreover, the CDA will utilise some of the buses for the bus service operating from the Expressway to Faisal Mosque. It is hoped that this measure will help ease the traffic burden on the expressway. The authority has awarded the contract for acquiring buses to an international company – Higher Bus Company. Reportedly, the CDA will start operation of the metro bus service as soon as the buses arrive through interim arrangements.
