Reportedly, until 1992, the civic agency used the abandoned water treatment plant near the Polo Club on Garden Avenue to receive the ‘fixed quota’ of water for the city – but stopped after the dam was revealed to be contaminated. It was reported that the city is facing water shortage as only 65MDG of water is being provided to its residents against the total requirement of 220MGD – which is being sourced from the Simly Dam, the Khanpur Dam and various tube-wells.
