Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has proposed a Rural Area Development project worth PKR 10 billion to develop suburban areas of the federal capital, according to news sources.

Project Concept 1 (PC-1) of the project will be presented before the Development Working Party (DWP), which is set to review and consider the project on March 3 (today) for final approval. CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal, in his first media briefing, shared his plans, including the rural development projects, which aim to ‘end the urban-rural divide’.
As per the sources, the proposed PC-I outlines development works for necessary infrastructure facilities such as roads, clean drinking water, and street pavement in rural areas. The project will provide sanitation, communication, drinking water, and basic facilities to almost 700,000 inhabitants.

However, the project’s approval is still subject to the DWP’s review. The CDA chairman also shared updates on sector development, stating that it is one of his top priorities and that work in Sector E-12 and I-12 is being expedited. The chairman also announced that Sector I-15 is almost finished, and over 5,000 allottees will be given possession letters on March 10.
