Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Captain (retired) Muhammad Usman Younas on Saturday (August 27) formed a committee for the restoration of a 900 years old Sarai (inn) of the Mughal era, news sources reported. The Sarai (inn) is located in Sarai Kharbooza near Grand Trunk (G T) Road in a rural area of the federal capital.

Reportedly, the chairman visited the old heritage site and issued its restoration orders. He said that the site will be an important tourist attraction and will highlight Muslim architecture’s past glory. He also directed the formation of a committee of specialists in the field to provide consultation for the restoration project.

It is important to mention that the Sarai (inn) was also used by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1605 during his journey along the Grand Trunk (GT) Road.
