Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has handed over the land required for construction of the King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences, according to a news report. The land for the PKR 3-billion project was allocated to the health ministry.
Before the possession was given, the land was smoothed out by CDA and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.
The land was cleared along Park Road in Chatta Bakhtwar by CDA’s Enforcement Directorate, senior staff members of CDA’s Land and Rehabilitation Directorate, and several ICT officers. The assistance of the Islamabad Police, an anti-riot unit, and Rangers, was also obtained for the purpose.
Fifteen illegally-constructed buildings were demolished, while 17 families were given allotment letters for alternate plots. Compensation cheques were also given on the sport to people whose land was forcibly acquired.
In 2014, King Hamad of Bahrain had announced the funds for the university. Bahrain subsequently provided PKR 3 billion for the purpose.
