Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced its decision to check the expansion of katchi abadis (slums) in Islamabad, according to news sources. To facilitate this measure, the civic agency has constituted special ‘vigilance teams’ to monitor the existing structures and demolish any new additions.

The Enforcement Directorate staff, in this regard, conducted an operation in Sector G-8 and eliminated an illegally-developed boundary wall. Previously, the authority had identified the said structure. Further, it confiscated a truck of carrying building blocks and shifted the vehicle to the CDA store.

In another operation, the CDA team demolished an under-construction room in Sector F-8/1. The department is also taking action against building material selling spots, as they provide the construction material used in the illegal construction. In this regard, six building material depots were removed in an operation conducted at Bari Imam.
