Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started reviewing the pre-qualification bids from 17 firms for the construction of five plaza projects in the city, news sources reported on November 14.

The project is part of the six parking plaza projects proposed in Blue Area to accommodate around 3,500 automobiles in the city. According to media reports, the CDA selection committee has received pre-qualification proposals from 17 companies, which the authority will review over the next two weeks to pick eligible and capable organisations for the project. A CDA official told the media that following the initial inspection, the CDA would issue a tender, and only the pre-qualified firms shortlisted from the initial scrutiny will be able to participate in the bidding process.

According to the concept, the CDA would also sell a few levels of Blue Area parking plazas to cover the project’s development costs. According to CDA authorities, an estimated 350,000 automobiles enter and depart Islamabad every day, with an equal number owned by inhabitants of the city, and the growth rate of vehicle ownership in Islamabad is substantially greater than the national growth rate.

It is worth noting that CDA is currently building one of the projected six plazas at Savour Foods, with a car parking capacity of 1,300. The said project is being executed by the National Logistic Cell (NLC) with a budget of PKR 1.2 billion.
