Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday (March 07) announced its decision to develop a new park in Sector D-12/2, news sources reported. In addition to the one large park at the D-12 Markaz, this new park will be the sixth in a series of parks to be developed in the sector.

According to a CDA spokesperson, the project would cost PKR 9 million, and a tender of the project will be published in the leading newspapers soon. The park will provide inhabitants with various recreational opportunities, such as swings for children and walkways and jogging tracks for residents and visitors. In addition, the park will be fenced off and equipped with enough lighting to make it more user-friendly and safe. According to the spokesperson, three parks are under development in Sector I-14, one in Sector I-16. It is also worth noting that the CDA Board has approved the development of two big parks in different areas in the capital city and the installation of a Ferris Wheel.

The Project Concept-1 (PC-1) for the two parks, in Lake View and Bhara Kahu, and the 180-foot-high Ferris wheel, has been prepared, awaiting final clearance from the Development Working Party (DWP) meeting.
