The project of Conduction of Water from Indus River System at Terbela Dam was initiated in 2004-05 to develop a perennial source of potable water for the twin cities. And despite being approved by the Council of Common Interest (CCI) back in 2016, the project remained stalled. As a result, an acute shortage of drinkable water in the twin cities has been observed as the local population grows with time.
