Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had conducted over 1,142 operations against encroachments during the year 2022 across the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), the news sources reported on January 30.

The anti-encroachment operations resulted in the demolition of around 6,295 illegal structures in the markets, roads, green belts and sidewalk tracks in the federal capital. The authority also collected PKR 4.082 million in penalties and fines for various land and construction rules’ violations. The information was released by the CDA’s annual report stating that the operations were carried out by the Enforcement Directorate, Directorate of Municipal Administration working under the administrative control of the Municipal Corporation, Islamabad (MCI).

It is important to note that the CDA has recently ratcheted up its operations against land grabbers and encroachers to retrieve state-owned land.
