Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will not fund the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) any more, a news source reported. Deputy Financial Advisor CDA Muhammad Raza Shah has stated that the CDA itself is experiencing a financial crisis, and so will not be able to bail out the similarly stricken MCI.

Shah has advised MCI to consult relevant government authorities for this purpose in the future. In a notification to Chief MCI, he wrote that CDA can only pay salaries, utility bills, and other expenses during the rest of the fiscal year.
Shah told that MCI has already been informed about the situation of CDA’s financial wing. But the civic body keeps sending for the funds summary, he added. He stressed that it is MCI’s responsibility to create financial resources through its own efforts, and CDA has no role in this matter.

CDA spokesperson Safdar Shah also said that the authority can’t offer a supplementary grant to MCI. He added that MCI should contact relevant government authorities for funds now.
