Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday announced to start a bus service ‘Islamabad Bus Service’ on different routes in order to facilitate the residents of the city, according to media reports.

The meeting was presided over by CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed, who was accompanied by all of the board members. The CDA administration decided during the meeting to start a service to help people by offering modern and comfortable transport. The project specifics will also be submitted to the federal cabinet for approval.
According to information given, 30 buses would be deployed initially, with the number steadily increasing over time. The bus service will start from Soan Interchange to Faisal Masjid, from Bhara Kahu to Faiz Ahmed Faiz Metro Bus Station, and from Tarnol Railway Station to N-5 Metro Bus Station.
Aside from that, the proposal includes 64 total stops along these routes. To ensure safety, the management will install strict and state of the art security measures at each station, as well as public restrooms and tuck shops.
More information on the project was provided, including the fact that all of the buses would be fully air-conditioned and can carry 70 people. In addition, special people and women will be given preferential seating on the buses.
On weekdays, the bus will run from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., while on weekends, it will run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The timings, however, will be adjusted accordingly. It was also revealed that separate parking lots and depots will be built for three bus routes, as well as filling stations.

The CDA administration will be responsible for buying buses, renovating them, and building bus stations and parking places, while the Metro Command and Control Centre would manage the project. The project is scheduled to be completed by December.
