Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) have acquired eight sports grounds and parks from the illegal possession of individuals and cricket clubs, according to news sources.
The officials of CDA and MCI said that all the parks in the city come under the authority of civic agencies and no one has any right to operate these facilities. So far, the CDA and MCI have retrieved possession of eight sports grounds of the 11 such facilities that are being operated illegally. As per the officials of the two agencies, a new policy is being formalised to all grounds in the capital city. To finalise the policy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), residents of areas, local clubs, and members of civil society will be taken on board.
The officials mentioned that all the sports grounds will be used to provide equal opportunities to all citizens and not just a few individuals. A transparent mechanism needs to be established to avoid misuse of grounds in the future, added the representatives of the civic agencies.
