Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking a big step towards reducing hefty electricity bills by switching to solar power for its buildings, street lights, tube wells, and water pumps, as reported on May 5.

According to the details, the CDA Board has approved a feasibility study for the solarisation project, estimating it could save the agency PKR. 250 million per month. The project will roll out in three phases: first, converting tube wells and water pumps to solar power, then street lights, and finally, transitioning CDA buildings.

The goal is to instal solar panels on tube wells and waterworks in the capital, generating 4.5 megawatts of electricity. This solar system is expected to power the waterworks and tube wells for the next 25 years, covering the instalation cost of PKR. 80 million within the first four years.
